A technical distributor with branches in five European countries · Articles containing a substance on the Candidate List
Five branches, one notification that adapts
What happened
Anyone placing an article on the European market containing a substance on the Candidate List must notify the European Chemicals Agency. This distributor supplies the same articles from five countries, so that obligation rests on five branches simultaneously. That is how it started: each branch had its own notifications, containing its own errors. The lists contained a mix of duplicate and failed submissions. One of the most sold versions was reported under a supplier number instead of an article number.
We reviewed all articles again and determined for each article what actually needed to be reported. The full notification is now held by the Dutch branch. The other four refer to it with a simplified notification, so a change is implemented in one place and the rest adapt accordingly. The article that was listed under a supplier number has been resubmitted under the correct number.
All articles are now reported from all five branches, using the number that goes to the customer for each article. If an article is added or a composition changes, it is a matter of updating rather than re-evaluating. Where a supplier has yet to provide their data, this is listed separately, as there is nothing to report without that information.
