You are established outside the EU and sell directly
Without an establishment in the EU and without an importer, there is no one to assume the role. In that case, the product may not be offered here as long as there is no authorised representative with a written mandate.
You have multiple customers in the EU
Each of them is then an importer with their own obligations. With an authorised representative, your technical file is kept in one location in the EU, and not every customer needs to manage their own copy.
You sell via a marketplace
Platforms require a name and an address in the EU for every listing. Without these details, your listing will remain offline, even if the product itself is compliant.

Does an authorised representative relieve me of my obligations?
No. The manufacturer remains responsible for the design, production, and the technical file. The authorised representative takes over the administrative and contact tasks that the law assigns to the role. Anyone who promises otherwise is promising something that is not possible.
Does an authorised representative remove the role of the importer?
No. Anyone who places a product from outside the EU on the market is an importer with their own obligations. This remains the case, even when you have an authorised representative. What the authorised representative does do: keep your file available in one single location.
For which products is this possible?
For products under CE legislation that require a responsible economic operator, plus consumer products under the GPSR. For each product group, we first check whether your file supports the role.
What happens during an inspection?
The supervisory authority reaches us via the address on the product or in the offer. We provide the file and keep you informed. If anything appears to be missing, we will tell you what is required.
What are the costs?
We work with a fixed price upfront, linked to the number of products for which you appoint us. You will receive the price within 24 hours after you have sent us your list.
How quickly can it be arranged?
If your file is ready, the mandate is a matter of days. If supporting documentation is still missing, we will address that first, because an authorised representative without a file is an address without an answer.
