UKCA, only where required .
Great Britain recognizes the CE marking indefinitely for twenty-one product regulations, so for most products, UKCA has become voluntary. It remains mandatory for a shortlist. You will need a UK Responsible Person in any case.
Does this apply to you?
Since the 2024 UK amendment regulations, the recognition of the CE marking is indefinite. The question is not whether you want UKCA, but whether your product is on the shortlist where it is required.
Your product falls under the recognized regulations
Machinery, electrical appliances, radio equipment, toys, and personal protective equipment are included. You may continue to use the CE mark, provided you continue to follow EU rules fully.
Your product is on the shortlist
Medical devices, construction products, marine equipment, rail equipment, cableways, transportable pressure equipment, and unmanned aircraft. UKCA is mandatory for these.
You sell directly to British customers
Then you need a UK Responsible Person, with an address that is listed on the product or with the offer. This also applies if you continue to use the CE mark.
You provide your CE file, we do the rest
Most companies start a double process that is not necessary. We first determine what is actually required. What is needed from you fits into a single line.
determine for each product whether it falls under the recognized regulations or the shortlist for which UKCA is mandatory.
assess your existing CE file against UK requirements and identify any differences.
appoint the UK Responsible Person and provide the address line that must appear on the product and in your offer.
prepare the UK declaration where UKCA is required and guide the associated assessment.
record what changes when the United Kingdom adjusts its rules, so you do not have to rectify things afterwards.
provide what you have: your CE file, the declaration of conformity, and the list of products you sell in Great Britain. That is all there is to it.
No double filing. One file, two markets.
This includes the assessment per product, the UK declaration where necessary, the appointment of your UK Responsible Person, and the texts that must appear on the product and offer.
If a British customer or a regulator requests it, you simply forward it. And you will know why you did not pay twice for the same thing.
Do you want to know if UKCA is mandatory for you?
Send us your product list. Within 24 hours, you will know which products can keep the CE mark and what needs to be arranged in the United Kingdom.

Do I need UKCA now or not?
u003cpu003eFor most consumer products, no. Great Britain recognizes the CE marking indefinitely for twenty-one product regulations, including machinery, electrical appliances, radio equipment, toys, and protective equipment. UKCA remains mandatory for a shortlist, including medical devices and construction products.u003c/pu003e
May I continue to use CE for Great Britain?
u003cpu003eYes, for the recognized regulations and without an end date. You must, however, continue to follow EU rules fully, including the mention of your importer or authorized representative in the EU. A mix of half CE and half UKCA does not work.u003c/pu003e
Do I need an address in the United Kingdom?
u003cpu003eFor products you place on the market in Great Britain, a UK Responsible Person is required. If you have no branch there and no British importer, we will fulfill that role.u003c/pu003e
What applies in Northern Ireland?
u003cpu003eEU rules apply there, and therefore the CE marking. UKCA alone is not valid there. If you sell throughout the United Kingdom, you will have to deal with two regimes.u003c/pu003e
What does it cost?
u003cpu003eThat depends on whether your product falls under the recognition or not. If it does, it involves an assessment and an appointment, and costs remain limited. If UKCA is required, the process is similar to a CE process. You will receive a fixed price in advance.u003c/pu003e
Can the British rules change again?
u003cpu003eThat is possible. The recognition has been made indefinite but is not set in stone. Furthermore, a separate process is underway for medical devices. We monitor this and will report when it affects your products.u003c/pu003e
